Paul Green told his 4th grade teacher that he wanted to be a stand-up comedian one day. It took years before he found the courage the step on a stage as a stand-up comedian for the first time in 2013, when he did his first open mic in Scottsdale. Before attempting stand-up Paul got his start as a comedic performer when he joined a short-form improv troupe in 2008. He quickly became a crowd favorite and one of the top improv comedians in the Phoenix area.
After performing improv for 7 years Paul finally began pursuing stand-up comedy in 2014 when he took his first stand-up comedy class in Tempe Arizona with his first comedy teacher Tony Vicich. After performing in the class showcase Tony sat Paul down and told him that he needed to move to New York and Los Angeles and pursue comedy.
It took a year for Paul to overcome his fears and self-doubt, but in 2015 Paul moved to Los Angeles with no contacts, leads, prospects, or credits, with nothing more than 7 years of short-form improv comedy experience, and 1 year of stand-up comedy experience.
While in Los Angeles Paul had many experiences as a performer, actor and comedian. He began booking comedy shows at some of the most iconic comedy clubs in the country such as the Comedy Store, Laugh Factory, Ice House, and the Hollywood Improv. He was also cast in multiple acting roles including live theater, Shakespeare, commercials, television, feature films, social media projects, and immersive character acting.
In 2025 Paul decided it was time to jump coasts and moved to New York where he immediately booked the lead role in the Young Frankenstein, and began performing stand-up at multiple stand up comedy venues in the big city.
It was in New York City that Paul was asked to provide feedback to a small group of comedians who were just starting their journey. It was in this setting that Paul realized how much he loved teaching everything he had learned over the years about stand-up comedy. Watching these new comedians instantly improve their sets, and get better laughs based on his input was a huge thrill, and this experience was the catalyst for Lessons in Comedy.
Paul continues to perform and hone his craft as a comedian, actor and performer, and is excited to have an opportunity to give back to the comedy community all the knowledge and wisom that has been taught to him throughout the years. He hopes that maybe one day something he said to a new comedian will help them find the courage and confidence to continue on their comedic journey to success!
